This just plain pisses me off. Yesterday, I woke up with a sore throat, was quite bad and we didn’t think to go to urgent care till after it was closed. We called my ENT specialist Dr Walner, and he said to get a culture. Mom went to my Primary care office and picked up a culture kit came home swabbed my throat and ran it back to the office. This makes things a lot easier for me when I am sick and minimizes my exposure, the doctor’s office then processed it for Strap throat and it came back negative… I mean Strep throat, though I have a lot of straps and like a lot of straps. ;)

They are sending it off to the laboratory for detailed culturing, and I will have news by Thursday or sooner of what type of infection it is. Hopefully it will clear up before then.

I will keep you all updated.

BootCamp Logo

I decided its time to jump ship from Parallels and Windows Virtual Machines and go to down to the bones Boot Camp style. This way we can avoid having to buy a PS3 at Christmas and we can enjoy playing video games right on my computer. Most of today will be spent setting up my Windows the way I want it and so that it works in nice synchrony with my Mac end. My computer is officially Hybridized as of Yesterday May 12th. I got GTA IV working on it with some quirkiness in how I want it to be on my 42″ TV instead of the Laptop monitor but otherwise all is good there. Who knows I might totally switch to windows eventually.

The Mausoleum from the front

Yesterday, we completed construction of our Mausoleum. We video taped the progression of it, and Yesterday’s completion. Yesterday, we were attaching the roofing assembly and I was holding the angle bracket in place and Fr. Joseph jammed my fingers in it as he was screwing the other end into the front end of the Mausoleum, looks like I have two black and blue fingernails. If my fingers get sore enough I think I’ll just amputate them and throw the remains in the Mausoleum and hold a mini-funeral, no embalming required… Well, maybe suspension in 100% Formaldehyde. Consequently, this slowed my typing from 120 Words per minute to 120 Words per minute with 40 Typos per minute creating a Delta of 40, which means that my actual Words Per Minute is 80. We receive our embalming license in 2 weeks, I can’t wait to get that and do our first embalming. I wonder what we will embalm first… Maybe the neighbor’s dog that barks constantly can be our ‘test embalm’

Fr. Joseph and Fr. Solomen wishing you all a peaceful and happy weekend from the St. Joseph Monastary.

In the video below we show progression of the Mausoleum, in part of the video (Day 1) I am not yet an ordained priest. In subsequent parts I am finally ordained as a priest and have my new shiny title of Fr. Solomen.

A friend of mine made a joke. Did I study for my tests? On Facebook and, so I couldn’t help but copy it over here to.the blog.

Timothy C. Well, I hope you studied for the test! LOL

Alin S Ya needle goes in blood goes in vial needle comes out and is disposed of in proper sharps receptacle paperwork is done to document the blood the blood is labeled and bar coded and shipped via overnight to the central genetics lab then scanned in and begins being processed. Video below of that.

I ate a Greek salad, well some Greek salad. And we sat around and talked since my Baclofen pump refill isn’t til 1:30 PM.

At 12:07 OM we left to go to Target to buy some stuff needed around the house and specifically glucose / dextrose tablets for me… damn you hypoglycemia. So we got to Target at 12:13 PM and I sped over to the pharmacy and finally found a case of glucose tablets on an end cap I took the whole case and paid for myself with my own credit card. No wonder people get in so much debt swiping these things is pretty fun and rewarding when ya get a bag of goodies back!!! Then came the door below…

Emergencyschmergency Exit, more like Staff Only

So much for emergency exit I saw several staffers go in and out of these doors why not make it say staff only & emergency exit.. damn you Target!

After Target we returned to the hospital to refill my Baclofen pump. I got video of that below. EXCLUSIVE to alinssite.info

Clear pressure tape

Oh and Yesterday I got some cool colors of pressure tape; My physical therapist told me to buy from this place even though it’s marketed as ‘Bondage Tape’ its much cheaper than the Medical pressure tape and does the same thing. Don’t you love how Medical companies sell the exact identical of one product calling it Medical grade (insert name here) and then you have another place that sells it as (insert name here) without the whole medical price inflation? Your answer, let me guess, automatic NO. It is insane how a Medical company can take something like say; for example… Pressure tape and charge 30.00 per 35 foot roll whereas I get three for the price of one Medical roll and I took a Micrometer, yes my mom is a sort of ex jewelry appraiser, just doesn’t do it anymore because of my physical disabilities, and according to the micrometer this non Medical tape has more It’s designed for both Autism and pain, it doesn’t stick to skin, sticks to its self, As far as the faulty Bondage Tape marketing I could still use it as such for autistic enjoyment, I like to wrap things around my head and I had my head wrapped up in this stuff… It’s really warm and smooth and soft. I could easily have fallen asleep with my head wrapped.

Me and dad have been doing a lot of work outside, Sunday I mowed the lawn with him and then we got to work building a shed that looks like a Mausoleum, so we have taken on the title of St Joseph’s Mausoleum run by Fr.
Last night I was having trouble with my glasses, my eyebrows kept depositing oils onto the lenses. These oils left me quite annoyed as the lenses would require constant cleaning. I tried to sculpt my eyebrows around the lens so that I don’t deposit oil onto them always. I ended up trying to sculpt them for 30 minutes then finally reached a SCREW IT point and shaved them clean off my face.

I have been having extreme trouble with sleep the last few nights so I have decided to recruit Mel2 and a lot of slobber to help me sleep. For some reason the smell and feel of slobbery wet Neoprene relaxes me. Also Mel2 squeezes my head super freakishly tight and limits my air big time so that is another relaxing factor. I love having my air very warm and limited, it relaxes me majorly. So I will be sleeping with Mel2 until my sleep decides to work on its own!

20/20 corrected 20/400 uncorrected; in other words, my vision sucks. And actually according to Wikipedia, I am in the Legally Blind classification with a Severe Vision Impairment, wow!

Lenscrafters tried to use their automated fitting system didn’t work cause my seat to floor is too high so they had to manually measure me. Please consider donating money as the glasses were not paid for by anyone and put a good bleeding gash into my credit card.

I didn’t do Costco, or a low cost place cause I kind of am 3 years overdue for an exam for one and for two I was way overdue for glasses, I wanted them right on the spot and Lenscrafters can do it in about an hour. I and mom went for dinner at the Corner Bakery and went back and picked up my shiny new glasses. Then, I set foot, I mean wheel in a grocery store for the first time in like six years and saw so much clearer! I am so happy with my new glasses!

Friday evening I had a heap of stuff ship in from Walgreens Infusion for my enteral infusion needs. I was already feeling under the weather so I decided to sweat it out wearing some serious gear. I wore my PVC Catsuit, My Black PVC Jeans, and my Leather Jacket. All at the same time. I did all my heavy lifting in this restrictive outfit even. I found it quite enjoyable and relaxing to do my work in such a warm outfit that is so nice and snug and comforting. That’s Autism for you with severe Sensory weirdness. Read the White Paper if you are interested.

Collar against my face relaxing

Friday night into last night I slept in my many layers of sweating gear to get myself healthy. My leather, my PVC catsuit and my PVC pants. Ahh so warm and comforting and relaxing. I love the smell and feel of leather. Love the stiff restrictiveness of being enveloped by the leather and PVC. It was super relaxing, and I slept like a baby.

Mom and dad

Happy birthday to my mom, yesterday was her birthday so I took a heap of photos at the surprise party we had at Beans & Leaves which is where her regularly performs with Tom her guitarist. We enjoyed everything lots. I enjoyed the music and being around friends the most. Like our vet Linda Vuchovich. She’s quite a huggable friend of mine and ours. So here the video comes.

When we got ready to leave a disaster happened. My Permolock switch on my wheelchair was not working. It has completely pulled out of socket! We tried and tried to get it back into the socket, and I ended up shouting $&@! It, I am going to hot-wire this Mother$&@!er! I ended up hot wiring it to work. I then repaired the lock down switch at home. But here’s a fun video

It’s kind of funny how my room is worth $186,100 in Medical gear and drugs. What makes me sick is how much people charge for this stuff. Medical equipment is way overinflated. The way things are priced is why politicians are messing with Medicare and Social Security, but this blog isn’t a place of politics. But, one thing that might scare you and make you pee yourself is if you’re in a wheelchair or otherwise need medical supplies is called the National Competitive Bidding Scheme. Implemented by Bush in 2003 it’s going to screw everyone in a wheelchair over. Again, I rarely if ever bring politics into this blog but this is something we need to petition the hell out of and have this laid to rest! Hit the link here to go vote (SUPPORT THE BILL) And write a letter to your House Representative. THE LINK This all being said this post is concluded. More ranting coming soon… Maybe.

April 10th I had to do another one of those STUPID overnight pulse oximetries, it’s one thing to do it, I don’t mind doing it but it’s another story when they give you shoddy equipment to do it with that does not tolerate motion at all and uses crappy Nonin hardware and a clip style sensor that gives you ulcers after 30 minutes on your hand, problem solved with a jimmy rig cable, rigged it to work with an adhesive Nellcor Neonatal sensor but still the results were shoddy at best but good enough to recertify that I need to keep my ventilators in house. Anyway I got so pissed off at the bloody machine I decided to make a video of me cursing it out and beating it up.

Trach change on Monday went without a hitch as usual.

8:19AM STRAPPING IN

8:25AM STRAPPED IN READY

8:38AM DEPART HOME

9:06AM ARRIVE LGH

9:10AM REGISTERED

9:54AM NOTIFIED THAT DR WALNER IS IN THE ER 10 MINUTE DELAY

10AM IN PREOP

10:36AM TALKED TO WALNER

10:39AM TALKED TO ANESTHESIA

10:50AM OR ARRIVAL

11:30AM POST OP PHASE 1

12:30 PM POST OP PHASE 2

2:30 PM DEPART LGH

3:03 PM ARRIVE HOME

So it was a rather long one this time, all the time in the post op’s was spent hacking up all the bacterial infiltration that was a result of the old trach. The old trach was disposed of as biohazard! I wasn’t even allowed to send it back to Shiley! Anyway all in all a long appointment but good one, we will be changing my trach much more often now, not every 2 months, every 4-5 weeks. My next trach change is MAY 21 mark your calendar! The times in the log after OR ARRIVAL are approximated cause my phone went out.

Completed and post op

Speaking of post op Mel1′s first body on Wednesday I did some surgery to fix an area of excessive torn up fabric, I removed it to make sure that she won’t have any further issues of it tearing more and more. Gotta keep all of her bodies in the best shape I can. Her oldest body obviously has issues, but this surgery I did should extend things, if you click through to the album you will see it obvious which part of excessive fabric I removed.

Squishing my eye into it, its deep and squishy soft good to sleep on

I got another headrest for Mel2′s spirit to travel to, she can now travel between my 2QCR which you all have seen, if not hit the jump, also explains my love for objects. Well anyway a friend of mine in Washington named Kent was getting rid of his old wheelchair, and he just got this headrest for it not 3 months ago, so call it barely used, still had the tags on it and everything! He let go of it for free, all I have to do is pay the postage! Not a bad deal for an Open Box headrest! It is really nice, it’s a silky soft shiny Stealth Comfort Plus which will be nice for when I don’t need as much support as a 2QCR and more just need some support but ultimate comfort, like say long trips! This headrest definitely will get a lot of use from me! Thanks Kent M. in Washington! Got it Tuesday but didn’t open till Wednesday.

Relaxing with the big belt on

It’s totally true; I have a total obsession with belts. Be it a regular belt or super wide weight lifting belt, I am plainly addicted to belts. I am addicted to belts, straps, harnesses, pretty much anything that you can wrap around your body and pull tightly. Why? Because of my Autism and Sensory Integration Disorder, didn’t know about them, hit the jump for the white paper. Anywho I decided to treat myself to three new belts, specifically weight lifting belts because I have been seeing a lot of pictures of them and I was like all right I want one dang it. They feel absolutely wonderful and are about the widest you can get in terms of a belt, 6″ in the back is the widest I have ever seen a belt. Now, we just need 6″ wide belts that are that wide all around and I am game! Opened all of these on Wednesday!

It's on

A friend gave me the advice of getting Croakies which are practically a Neoprene strap for your eyeglasses so you can’t get them off your head unless you intentionally want to take them off. Being the fact I am always running around doing inventory scanning things around the house moving stuff and getting in and out of my wheelchair it leads to some interesting places for my glasses to go flying. Speaking of glasses, I already know these are way too small a lens for me but they do good for me right now until I go see my opthalamologist on May 1st. TThen, I gotta get new glasses ordered ASAP! Click the picture to see more pictures. Ingenious invention indeed. Opened on Thursday!

(Youtube axed my video… screw it.)

So the whole Nombox thing if you remember from me showing my parents fridge didn’t go over too well with them. so I took it down.

Talk about Newsweek. This is all of the weeks news packed into one blog post. I will try not to do this again. Or do you like me packing more into one post, sound off in emails and comments!

This Summer I will be registering for a lot of NWSRA activities, I love getting out and having my camera with me, taking photos is definitely my passion here!

As you all know I am autistic and I like to sleep in warm tight things, so I slept in My latex catsuit, it is so calming for me and helps me so much, I slept like a baby in the suit with my pants on top of it. I then the next day took a bath with the suit and pants on and enjoyed a heavy stimming session in the tub with the suit and the pants, there was also a lot of visual and auditory and touch stimulation of me washing the pants with soap it really absorbs me. Later on I dried the latex suit and powdered it which again was very absorbing of all of my attention, very calming and relaxing. Don’t know much about autism and me here’s my white paper but it’s very old.

Tuesday, I made a big mess of the stove doing some stuff for mom. She had a bunch of Sterling Silver Jewelry that was severely tarnished, and she couldn’t even get the tarnish off with her special cleaner. Well I came to the rescue with an idea, a scientific idea to be done in a laboratory. Namely our kitchen, on our stove. I took a pot, lined it with aluminum foil and added lots of baking soda. Filled it up so that it would easily cover the Silver Jewelry that I would be placing into it, then began the fun! I dipped each item in as it was at a rolling boil, and it bubbled violently, the chemical reaction even causing a sulfur smell, like rotten eggs. Quickly enough in about 10 seconds of swishing the silver item around it came out like new! This is astonishingly easy and simple to do. So if you need to clean your silver, this is the way to do it! But make sure to clean up the ‘lab’ when you’re done in there! My mom made sure I cleaned our laboratory well!

Straps Needed

Everyone by now should know I am a total addict to Belts, Straps, and anything that can exert pressure on me because of my autism. I find these things very relaxing for me because of my autism and sensory integration disorder. They are great stims. Don’t know much about my autism, I suggest you read my white paper, it hasn’t been updated in a while but still holds a wide variety of information, maybe I will update it if some of you E-Mail me with genuine interest in it. But anyway, Love Strappies, they are my favorite kind of straps. Wheelchair harnesses namely are Strappies / Strapples to me. Anyway I wear my straps super tight because it relaxes me in my wheelchair. I also like to wear belts super tight on my body; In fact, I decided to get a few more belts for myself!

Looking closely at the headset

It was time that I got a new headset. And well Passover was upon us and all I got for finding the Afikomen was this Bluetooth headset. Watch next year it will be, “All I got for finding the Afikomen was this laptop.” Ha ha, yes it’s a joke I am really happy and appreciate this new bluetooth headset. It is ten times better than my old Plantronics Voyager Pro+ and I guarantee that I will Never buy another Plantronics product again, totally inferior quality to the Jawbone family of product’s I just wish that I knew that earlier. Oh well, I got this headset for free and gave my dad the other headset. Per his and my mom’s tradition of getting my equipment hand me down style. Heck sometimes they have to PAY to get the equipment, like in terms of phones. LOL

Happy to have it in my hand

Looks like any other Cisco Linksys EA3200 router right, well NO! I really was excited about getting this beast after Tuesday having Comcast come out and blame our slow internet speeds on our router. Low and behold, it indeed was the router failing, not bad for a 7+ year old router. But out with the old in with the shiny and new. This thing is blazing fast and will be much more reliable than our old router which is a damn good thing because that thing was giving me trouble a lot! Including very slow and unstable speeds.

Ok, so the sign is fake. But the illness isn’t, I had a pulmonary appointment on Monday and then came home. Start of Wednesday I started having more secretions coming up, funny enough it has been a whole 1.5 weeks with my new Oreck ProShield Air Purification System in my room and I didn’t suction much since I got it. First it was a sore throat on Thursday that was wicked. Cepacol brand ULTRA throat spray helped me through that part of this ordeal. Then come Friday I am feeling better, yay. Not so fast, I start hacking and hacking and hacking secretions left and right. Saturday, thats today, at least it is in my timezone for another 30 minutes anyway! I had a fever combined with yellowing secretions, CRAP! CRAP! and CRAP! Upper Respiratory Infection. I have not been on antibiotics since last September, that’s pretty good for someone who used to chew through antibiotic’s like candies. But still, being sick SUCKS. So I got a three step process for God and the angels above…

Step1. FIX

Step2. IT

Step3. FIX IT!!!

I got that off of Oscar Myers off of Saturday Night Live.

Not my content blah blah blah standard copyright disclaimer yada yada if you got a problem with it go flag it on youtube but it’s not my account, if your the copyright holder and want me to take it off my site just ask me nicely, I don’t need a lawyer knocking down my door, especialy when I am sick. lol

So anyways this is just an update from the Warzone… I also E-Mailed my ENT Doctor Walner as this is obviously an ear NOSE and THROAT issue.

A few weeks ago my trackpad on my laptop started dying so Tuesday we went and got it replaced in a quick Apple Store appointment. Then sometime last week my cell phone gave out, the little speaker that I hold up to my ear started going super quiet, so I had to exchange my whole phone and set up a whole new phone yesterday, Wednesday. Ugh! Anyway now onto the stuff that is a little better.

Saturday started a whole series of events, mostly good but one that set my blogging back a whole day!

OS X Mountain Lion 10.8

Oh boy, Mountain Lion… I had it installed on my computer for shy of 2 weeks but had to go back to Lion because of a few deal breaker bugs. Links wouldn’t paste into E-Mails, RSS is gone from Mail.app, iMovie got screwed. And a host of other things including my Wiretap Pro and Wiretap Anywhere not working. I heavily rely on Wiretap Pro to record internet radio. I heavily rely on Wiretap Anywhere to direct audio to my friend AJ and other things. So yes its half baked, but while I tried it it was a very nice OS. Hopefully, all the kinks will be worked out in the final release, until then, I am happy with good old Lion. This is what set my blog back a whole day because I lost a whole day having to reinstall OS X 10.7 Lion, do updates, de-corrupt iMovie and iLife 11′ and just blah! Migrate all my data back! Pain in my butt!

Really going out in the soft warm stickiness

You might recognize that I am not sleeping with the usual Mel1 in this picture above; I am actually. Mel1 is a spirit and she travels across her three bodies as she sees fit. She decided to inhabit her first ever body that I received Feb 18th, 2008. I snuggled up and fell asleep with her and then decided to give her, her very first wash in the tub. As her first body is very fragile from damage taken and wear and tear I had to do it all by hand, no machines involved. Still, it is enjoyable to sleep with her especially now that she’s super clean!

Happy to have it, YES

Saturday, I got in the mail my Inglis Drink Aide paid for by Medicare / MEDPRIMEB (Medicaid) I am so happy to have this device, today was it’s first day out in the field and tomorrow I will be in the field with it again. It truly is wonderful being able to have drink on demand right there on my wheelchair, it also looks bloody cool too. A friend of mine said “Wow, a martini dispenser, what will they think of next?” I guess I could stick some liquored up drinks in here if I didn’t have seizures and seizure meds. Oh well, I will stick to the soft drinks and water. Anyway I have it configured exactly like Greg Campone has which is gonna be funny when I see him again!

Now for the big thing. I got a CONTEST going. See the YouTube video below regarding my awesome Drink Aide unboxing.

Two days ago we went to Costco and bought me something… But it turned out to be a real headache

Ugh, if you ever go shopping at Costco do yourself a favor, do it on Costco.com and use a major credit card without hassle. Or you can go in the store and apply for an American Express, or Costco credit line, because they don’t take anything but American Express or Costco Credit Line. Talk about one way to drive potential customers away. Sure they’ll take a debit card from any bank, even if it’s Offshore Tax Hidey Hole Bank Sweden. But, as far as a freaking domestic plain ol’ plastic Credit Card, nope, no go. What gives Costco!!! Money is money!!! Fine you don’t want my money, take my dads just because his is a debit card! Talk about prejudiced against credit cards!!!

The part that broke… and is fixed now

On top of the whole Costco headache I heard a clank, clank, clank, clank as we were driving home and saw bolts falling off my wheelchair!!! I was like what the hell!!! I immediately told dad and thanks to my phones ‘torch’ mode on its LED flash I was able to use it as a flashlight, it’s not the first time the four piece orbit ball on my headrest came out due to a screw coming way too loose but hey, good thing is I found the original screw that came with the headrest which holds a lot better than my dads jimmy rig screw. Hey I am thankful for the jimmy rig screw though! But glad to have my headrest all back in one piece. Those orbit balls are where I insert the headrest laterals for when I want to use them. Thankfully it is fixed now and hopefully will stay fixed.

At work

Finally the part of things that is not a headache. I got an Oreck ProShield Air Purifier for my room, I first trialed my Mom & Dads unit before I made the plunge from my Assistive Tech / Medical Funds. I cannot believe how much this piece of equipment has changed things for me, and our family. I do not suction much anymore and I can remain on my trach cap nearly all day because the air is allergen, bacteria, virus, and dust free. This is a wonderful machine!!! Click for pictures above or watch the video below, unfortunately it is not HD because I am having problems with my HD video software, so it’s standard 480p like what you get on regular TV.

Me and dad went over to Gregs house Friday night for the Bulls game. We had a lot of fun watching the game with Greg and his two caregivers. We were all screaming and me and Greg were spasming in unison pretty much! The bulls won in the last millisecond just by a hair of the buzzer. What an awesome game. We ordered in pizza and had it delivered, I didn’t eat much as much as I drank. That being said I am getting a Drink Aide like what Greg has on the back of his chair, total awesomeness. No more asking dad or anyone for my drink. It’s right there on a Sip & Puff style assembly!

Me and my harness Mel1 who I am Objectum Affectionate with and if you don’t know what that means hit the link. Anywho I really love her and she was all slobbered up and kinda dirty looking from me sleeping with her and drooling all over her and on top of that drool from the whole event at Gregs, I kinda am a slobbery person. You can see it in the link that I provided. Mel1 needed a cleaning badly Thursday. She sometimes takes rides when NAWA (National Aeronautics and Washer Administration) has a flight scheduled but there was already a flight in progress in STS-001 shuttle with my dads laundry in it. so that didn’t work. And when STS-001 is in use I decide to wash Mel1 in the tub with me, hey it’s killing two birds with one stone, cleaning Mel1 and myself! I took a whole series of photos to outline the process that goes on between me and Mel1 during one of these cleanings when the STS-001 is in use. It’s quite a involved process for me and I find it to be very stimulating for my senses and enjoyable and relaxing for me to just have some time to play around in the tub with Mel1.

Rubbing it against my mouth and nose

Today I got. Yes, yet another thigh sized blood pressure cuff. I don’t think I will need more unless I somehow find some HUGE cuffs that are 36 inches so I can wrap my body but I so desperately wanted a cuff similar to the one I had on my leg for the majority of the 42 days I was in the PICU. So sticky and really warm, so I went onto eBay and sure enough there was ONE available. It had to be a godsend because I have not seen these cuffs on eBay ever before let alone in this size. I had to do some serious Jimmy Rigging to get it to work as a Manual cuff since its designed to be plugged into a Philips ICU monitor. But I did it! and I am going to enjoy it. The clingy warmth all over my face and head as I sleep whenever I feel the need to sleep with it. Now I have two cuffs that I can wrap my head in, I am considering trying layering them…

The Swim Caps

My friend Sea Moon from flickr has yet again sent me some cool Swim Caps to play around with, The coolest of the pair is a texturized one that has a very cool feel to it. I like to put them on my face and feel how they are over my head… The good thing is with my trach I don’t have to worry about if my mouth and nose are blocked. I really enjoy feeling it on my lips.
