Medtronic Intrathecal Baclofen Pump Programmer

Today we went to the outpatient procedure suite and got my Baclofen pump refilled again. Same procedure as last time with the huber point, more info on the procedure is found in this old post. They also put a higher concentration of Baclofen in my pump, instead of the old 500 mcg per ML it is now the big guns 2000 mcg per ML which means I don’t have to get refilled as often. That is a good thing especially being since me and my neurosurgeon are still trigger happy with upgrading the dose since we are still not at optimum range of motion and spasticity reduction. One of the nurses who works for Medtronic Also subscribed to my blog today so thats really cool haha!

Hi Michele!!! :-P

Sudden power outage knocks out communications for a brief period

We had a sudden blackout around midnight that lasted for a split second. I began our emergency network readiness procedures and it didn’t look good. The modem would not boot up and acquire an address. I called Comcast who was willing to help me wipe out the modem from their network and make it look like a brand new modem (re-provisioning) and reboot it into their network which worked. We both agreed this modem is on it’s last leg so I will be getting it exchanged tomorrow as in Tuesday. I hope we can make it until then. But please note we have full connectivity switchability to my BlackBerry which will allow the entire house’s network to run without power for up to 6 hours and if there is electrical but no cable we will have connectivity for an indefinite period! Heres to a big crisis averted!

New laptop mounting plate is in, yay!

Front view with laptop in plate

Today we got a call from our friend Paul who was working on making my new laptop mounting plate that will be put on custom built mounting hardware from our friend Paul when it is completed, this hardware will be a bit more difficult to use than the Bodypoint Midline Mount kit that I have pending once we get the insurance company to accept it, but we will be able to get a mounted laptop with this hardware which will be a good thing since it is difficult to use the laptop in my lap when I am in my chair let alone the fact my head, neck position has to be compromised to do that. I can’t wait for the mount to be completed. Me and Paul designed the entire unit ourselves. At this time it CANNOT be used on my powerchair, we are still waiting on the main mounting bars, which will also be custom made!

The entire hardware kit is being kindly donated by Paul and RalphSimpsonCo and is 100% post consumer aluminum and steel.

The photos are now available in the gallery.

Crashed US Airliner in water By Reuters

Crashed US Airliner in water By Reuters

I received a text message around 12:30 AM today notifying me that my friend and web host manager Rocky Guido (owner iguido.com) was aboard flight 1549 which went down in the Hudson river. He was evaluated for mild hypothermia but all is fine. This makes me quite nervous about flying to the U.K this year. Being disabled makes the flight uncomfortable, But now I have to worry about crashing because of some damn birds? If I am flying to the UK they had damn well have a coast guard boat follow under that plane the whole way. Go down in the middle of the damn ocean, ain’t gonna be no ships out there to get us, we all die out there. So anyways, on the positive note he is ok and all is well.

Me & My Plantronics Voyager 510 Donated by Bob from Make a Wish

Yay! I got my new Plantronics Voyager 510 headset today via UPS. I was excited about this since I got it ordered with two day shipping last saturday, damn no shipping on sundays, people should ship and shipping should move product year round dang it. :P I was real quick to get it out of the box and onto the charger for the first 3 hour charge which is not bad for having a 6 hour battery life, same as my phone. Bob from Make a Wish donated the $50.00 that was necessary to buy it as part of his christmas / whatever donation. Thanks Bob! :D This is a great addition to my assistive technology arsenal. This is especially good for me since holding the phone up to my ear is not possible PERIOD, and using speakerphone annoys the hell out of the other person. Everyone always friggen complains “It’s echoey I can’t hear you, your breaking up, are you on speakerphone” NO MORE COMPLAINTS NOW! I have BlueTooth now and it will make things a hell of a lot easier for me and the people I talk to! Will also allow me to talk while I am laying in bed easier for me since now I can lay on my side in my good position for my spine when I am off the computer for the night or just don’t feel up to being on it. Enjoy the little gallery I made!

A friend visited, yay!

A friend of mine came today, his name is Jeff. We originally met in elementary school then lost contact for a really long time and voila he found me on WrongPlanet which is an autism community, and he contacted me a few days ago. So he and I decided to schedule a bit of a visit and he came today. Put two nerdy autistics in the same room who are nerds about computers, and neurology and neurodevelopmental disabilities and you get a whole lot of nerd speak going on. After that we did some more traditional talk and got up to speed on what’s going on with each other. We also kind of played around with his cell phone as shown above and tortured it a bit maybe hehe. :P

He also got snuggled at the end and he was wearing a rubbery feeling nylon coat, haha, a definite must snuggle by my book hehe. And he’s a cute guy. ;-)

My website's newly restored to old beauty front page

My website's newly restored to old beauty front page

I have decided to remove the Youtube! viewer from the front page since there is profanity in quite a few of the videos and I want to keep the site clean. So I have removed it and added the profanity warning to the youtube page its self. I apologize for the christmas day picture being on the front page, I know its crappy, dad took it on my BlackBerry and I look like a friggin old geezer in this picture. I am hoping to get a new picture, hopefully this week.
