Between 1:00 AM and 2:30 AM today there was a CPU overload on our sherver, somehow someone’s process started running amok and wreaking havoc on the CPU until it eventually overloaded and shut down. It has been reboot and should be in normal working order. Please contact me immediately if there are problems.

A New Home For The Router

A New Home For The Router

Dad spent an hour today moving all of the network administration equipment into my room. Even before this room used to be the official control room since i control everything from here. Well now if something goes down I can repair it myself right in bed. It also looks more like a control room with those LEDs flashing around, hehe.

Merry Christmas All

Me Opening One Of My Christmas Gifts

This year we had christmas at a friends house which was more accessible than my grandmothers. But not totally accessible. We are not going back here without the right equipment. This time my dad had to do quite a scary maneuver of lifting half the chair at a time up onto the door stoop and then pushing it in, not a smooth move and a very painful one for the back and neck. At least we got in ok. Once in we had some dinner, I ate a little Compoat (oven baked fruit in syrup) and then we went and opened gifts. I opened my gifts and got an Apple Giftcard and a cool little keychain sized photo viewing device that I have so far loaded a progression from before the disease to now so it will be easier so I can just hand off the device and boom there’s the progression reel for anyone interested.

I also couldn’t believe what was in the mailbox the day before christmas, it was a gift card for Apple from Lisa Raimondi from Make A Wish! How freakishly cool is that!

All the pictures are in the gallery!

Well today we got a load of medications.

We got the newest medication that will help us rectify my horrible sleep issues and seizure issues which is Klonipin. And we also got the Albuterol to go in my nebulizer twice a day. More stuff to do on a daily basis, great! Thankfully all I gotta do with the nebulizer is use one vial twice a day until the doctor and I decide to go lower. So thats only an extra 10 minutes which isn’t that bad.

Due to the main Code Blue priority being cleared as of today we are no longer code red and are now code orange. Code orange denotes when we still have some urgent stuff that needs to get done in a week or two or less but not so urgent to needing it done immediately. We didn’t even need to go to his office today to clear the main problem.

CODE BLUE PRIORITY (Can cause major problems if not treated very quickly.)

Severe insomnia with seizures. (CLEARED)

Upper respiratory infection symptoms (not a confirmed infection)

Get document for new mattress signed, also evaluate and possibly treat early stage one pressure sores.

CODE RED PRIROITY (Can cause major problems if not diagnosed and or treated quickly)

Evaluate / diagnose unusual mass in left breast. (likely to require blood draw & ultrasound.)

Yesterday we have declared a medical code red situation that I have forgot to post up here to the blog. As you know a medical code red is declared any time a doctors appointment or hospital visit is scheduled within 24 hours or less. It can also sometimes be referred to as an urgent care red – blue conversion, but for simplicity the front page refers to this situation as a plain code red.

There are a few reasons why we got a special emergency doctors appointment today.

The reasons are listed below in priority.

CODE BLUE PRIORITY (Can cause major problems if not treated very quickly.)

Severe insomnia with seizures.

I will keep you all updated as quickly as possible on new happenings regarding this situation.

A fellow user of my website contacted me yesterday about the fact that the sound on the Public Safety Announcement auto-plays. I verified this claim this morning and I have fixed it so it will not play unless you tell it to. Thanks JLD902 for alerting me to this bug / error of publishing.

We strive to create accessible pages for all users and minimize distraction for users with disabilities, thus I avoid using auto play scripts whenever possible!

Say hello to my BlackBerry Storm a.k.a my CrackBerry

BlackBerry Storm in Verizon box

BlackBerry Storm in Verizon box

On Thursday at noon Fed-Ex showed up at the door with a box. Mom had to sign for it and she did. It had my name on it so she brought it to me and I opened it. Bad-a Bing Bad-a Boom, it was the BlackBerry Storm that mom ordered me on Wednesday for Christmas / Hanukkah. It was not supposed to arrive till next Tuesday being they supposedly had no units ready to ship, but boom boom they shipped it for me!

I was really fast to unbox it and I took pictures of the entire process. I got the phone activated in a few hours and set up in the last day or so. It now syncs with my mac like it’s and iPhone only better! It’s so much easier for me to type on than an iPhone and we got it for a lot less than you can get an iPhone even with a contract!

It has a 3.2 Megapixel camera which is nice so I don’t have to schlep around my full camera with me everywhere, it has GPS and an awesome data connection. I am mainly going to be text messaging and using the data connection, with voice telephony being an auxiliary thing. I also love that I can tether it to the computer via Bluetooth and use it as a wireless Verizon BroadbandAccess Connect modem without needing to use a USB tether or USB card like I used to, which used to interfere with my charging port on my laptop.

This Christmas / Hanukkah present is kind of two headed, it’s both fun and it will also act as an assistive technology device for me in the way it allows me to non verbally communicate when my autistic selective mutism thing kicks in.

Either way, I hope you enjoy the unboxing photo’s as much as I enjoyed unboxing my new device!

P.S If you know me and want my new cell phone number please use Contact Me or E-Mail me!

I hate repairing laptops

Overkill sealed keyboard box

Overkill sealed keyboard box

I got the second keyboard today, The box was just like this but not damaged. The keyboard inside had a key detached and a corner bent, I bent it back and reattached the key, this keyboard was no where near as damaged as the previous. I then took a good 30 minutes to open my laptop, cursing at it along the way. Then I noticed there was this weird adhesive black stuff inside protecting the keyboard that looked very unwelcoming to uncertified technicians. I decided to back off and put it back together, another hour of cursing and repairing the machine was back together, with no changes made. I am likely to offer the keyboard up for buyback, or sell it outright to a new purchaser, or keep it.

I decided to abort the repair since my hand control is a bit poor and I kept dropping screws and scratching up the innards of my computer, I decided I am going to abort this before I do any real damage.

I am probably going to need to simply cough up the money to get a certified pro to fix this machine. But it’s worth having it done professionally and not breaking something else as you fix one thing!
